How do you go about letting the world know you have started an Internet home based business? Some spend lots of money on advertising, or buying leads and doing hours of cold calling. Both are totally unnecessary and there are many excellent ways to get yourself and your business to the top pages of Google search for your key words. However, I have noticed many people forget one of the most obvious, people you already know, probably because it was handled poorly in the past and you would consider it uncomfortable. Well, think again.

A good start is to write a letter announcing your Internet home based business. You might wonder; why write a letter? While people are flooded with emails, a letter makes this personal between you and friends, co-workers, past co-workers and those in any organization with you. Also it tends to hang around. Be sure to place several your business cards in with the letter. A well written letter should explain your business and what you are looking for. It is easy today on PCs to create a professional letter head and business card. Remember you get ONE chance to make a good first impression.
Your letter should give the impression of what you are doing and what you are looking for. Try to work in asking for suggestion of people. Like: Who do you know who is a person of good character, willing to work and looking for a second income.
Someone YOU would like to be in business with because of their character and work ethics.
Who is looking for a strong home based business because of the unstable job market.
If worded well, often their response will be, well what about ME? Yet you put no pressure on them or your reputation with them.
When I say, send a letter to everyone, what I really mean is everyone who could possibly use your product or service or has a sphere of influence to refer you. One of the often overlooked resources of advertising is people you already know and who know you and your reputation. But let us not do this the old school way by hounding all your family and friends. That will send them running for the hills.
Weed through your contacts like you would weed a garden. Know your product and service. What is your target market? Are you clear on that? Some people do not make good contacts, for example and some of this is so obvious: those people that do not have a good reputation or are not well liked and people not willing to work, I mean really work! Young ones who have not yet proven themselves, those with criminal history, well, you get the idea. People associate mostly with people they have a lot in common with.
An Internet home based business can be learned by anyone, there is a vast amount of training available. Do not let yourself get caught in the trap of paying huge amounts of money for training.
